Rosie Tiernan has always followed her curiosity. A trained audiologist with a background in allied health, she’s worked across large corporate clinics and eventually opened her own practice. But over time, frustrated by not being able to be part of a bigger impact, the once-exciting rhythm started to feel routine and small. Those who know her well know there’s always something new every couple of years, a challenge to tackle or a skill to learn.

That moment marked a turning point. Drawn to the idea of innovation and a start-up mindset, she joined Startmate’s Bootcamp, which led her into the Women Fellowship and now our pre-accelerator, Launch Club. What started as a quiet pull toward something different became a full phase of discovery.

During our conversation, Rosie chatted through exploring startup and collaborative ideas in audiology and even workplace wellbeing. She emphasised that audiology is a missing opportunity in a lot of collaborative health care environments. The Fellowship for Rosie meant rediscovering the energy that comes from being surrounded by other builders. She’s also excited by what others are building whether it's clinicians or those with lived experience to improve the health care system, collaboration, diagnosis and patient outcomes. The common thread is clear: real problems she’s experienced firsthand, now paired with a startup lens.

“After some of the sessions, I was so inspired. I’d get off the call and feel completely re-energised. I loved [Launch Club] pitch night. People would never have guessed I liked public speaking, but when I’m passionate about something, I light up.” For Rosie this experience hasn’t just been about brainstorming new business ideas, it’s realising you can’t underestimate the power of building alongside others.

Having just completed our 8-week pre-accelerator Launch Club, Rosie she’s focused on growth, staying open to new ideas whilst connecting with more people in healthcare and start-ups. While she once launched solo, she’s excited about what challenge comes next, whether it’s collaborating, helping others grow, adapting or starting something new.
