"Ladymates has reminded and reinforced for me the value in creating time to pause and actively think and reflect before choosing a course of action. This is a lesson I'm working to integrate more and more into my everyday decision making."

"The best thing has truly been meeting the amazing cohort of women. In terms of the content we've covered, it would be hard to pick just one thing - but I think the top two would probably be learning about my saboteurs and the workshop on difficult conversations. I've printed out the problems vs possibilities image and have it next to my computer as a reminder!"

I don’t know if I’m eligible

We appreciate that 'leadership' can be a bit hard to define, so we consider individual eligibility on a case-by-case basis.

  • As a general guideline, this night look like:
    • A ‘Head of’ or ‘Chief of’ level or higher
    • A senior manager (i.e. with a team of 3+ direct reports)
    • A Founder
  • If you believe your position in leadership sits outside these guidelines, we’d still encourage you to apply!
  • Note: for the first few intakes, we are also limiting participation to those who are based in-person in Melbourne or Sydney

Do I need to be based in Sydney or Melbourne?

At the moment, we are only running this membership in Sydney and Melbourne.

If you are not based in either of these two cities, but would still be able to attend the mandatory in-person sessions and events, please get in touch.

In the future, we also hope to run Ladymates with in-person hubs in other capital cities across ANZ. If this is of interest, I’d highly encourage you to reapply for future intakes!

Are sessions virtual or in-person?

The membership is part virtual, part in-person. The executive coaching and advisory board sessions will be virtual, but the ‘level-ups’ and curated social events will be in person.

Due to confidentiality and the need to create a safe space for candid conversations, virtual sessions will not be recorded.

What is the time commitment?

We appreciate most women in leadership are already beyond capacity, so we’ve built Ladymates with that in mind - low time commitment, high value.

The compulsory time commitment is ~2-4 hours per month.

Beyond this, participants are also encouraged to engage with each other and dig into bonus opportunities depending on their individual capacity.

What is the cadence? How often are sessions?

  • Peer Advisory Board Sessions = 1 x per month (in person)
  • ‘Level-up’ Workshops = 1 x per month (in person)
  • Role Advisory Sessions (optional) = 1 x per quarter (virtual)
  • Exec Coaching Sessions (optional add on) = 1 x per month (virtual)
  • Bonus socials & catch-ups (optional) = up to you!

The specific day/time of these sessions will vary to suit your individual availability, as well as the availability of your Coaching and Peer Advisory group members.

When will sessions run?

In-person workshops will run in the evenings after work, typically kicking off around 5:30pm.

The specific day/time of peer advisory and coaching sessions will vary to suit your individual availability, as well as the availability of your group members.

Please note that Exec Coaching will also take place in the first half of the day as our amazing Exec Coach is US-based.

Is attendance mandatory?

We believe you get out what you put in. Given the limited cohort size, we want participants who are ready to commit to their growth and are present to support their fellow Ladymates Leaders.

For this reason, attendance is mandatory. Participants who miss more than one session may be withdrawn from the membership*, so please get in touch if you have concerns about your availability.

‍*except in extenuating circumstances

What if I’m going to be overseas / away for a week or two of the membership?

This isn’t the end of the world. We encourage a healthy work/play balance (and talk about it all the time in exec coaching!). It's fine to go overseas or take some holidays, just be sure to give your group members/Coach a heads up. Your membership will keep rolling during this time.

However, we prefer participants are not absent for months at a time or miss more than a session or two.

Note that we also put all sessions on pause for the end of year holiday period!

What type of mentoring/coaching will I receive?

There are several types of mentoring/support women will receive through Ladymates.

  • Firstly, there's small group exec coaching. The exec coach for this intake is Sasza Lohrey - a Business & Holistic Life Design Executive Coach. She's also the Head of Ops and an exec coach at Co Lab, which is the company we're partnering with for the exec coaching component
  • Secondly, there’s peer mentoring. We group the intake into 'peer advisory groups', where women can work through challenges, soundboard ideas, and get feedback from other Ladymates who are facing similar challenges.
  • Thirdly, there are in-person 'level ups', where we bring in an expert to lead a workshop on something Ladymates request more support with.
    • Some examples of past sessions include ‘asserting influence through storytelling’ with Arabella Macpherson, ‘presence and body language’ with Lucy Allen, ‘having difficult conversations’ with May Samali, etc.
  • Fourthly, there’s role/functional advisory to help you level-up in your role. You have the option to join any of the different ‘functional groups’ (i.e. Ops, Marketing, Customer Success, etc.), where you can receive role-specific support and resources.

What is the investment?

I can’t afford it. Can my work sponsor it?

Many of our members have been able to secure sponsorship through their workplace!

We’d highly recommend at least having the conversation with them. To help you navigate this, we’ve put together this handy guide on how to get your company to invest in your Learning & Development.

If this is not an option for you, you may apply for a Scholarship. You can read more about scholarship criteria here.

Currently, we offer scholarships for women with a low socio-economic background in partnership with  Westpac.

Is it a safe and confidential space?

It's important that you feel safe to share the challenges you're facing and get the support you need. One of the Ladymates core values is confidentiality, and Chatham House Rules must be upheld by all members.
