There is a lot that made this group of founders special. They each have their own unique abilities and stories, however, there are a few commonalities which set them up for success.

1. Leverage Networks

  • As part of Launch Club, you are exposed to some incredible founders and investors who can help you on your founding journey. Likewise, you are welcomed into one of the best networks in ANZ startups. These founders were incredibly proactive in seeking out the support they needed from the community for the particular challenges they were facing.
  • Example: Liv (Empathix) found her future advisors & employees through Startmate’s network.

2. Move at Speed

  • A striking trait this group possesses is quite simply the speed at which they ship. Whether it’s speaking to customers, getting an MVP (minimum viable product) out into the open or onboarding paying customer, they have all moved at PACE!
  • Example: In 7 weeks, Liv (Empathix) had secured a projected revenue of $123,000 and 5 clients being onboarded.

3. Ambitious, but Focussed

  • For these founders, they all had big ambitions to impact their chosen industries. Despite the many possibilities of where to focus time, they focussed relentlessly on either the customer or the product. Anything else was a distraction.
  • Example: Kai & Linus (Lyrebird) didn’t even attend the final Launch Club pitch showcase (encouraged by Startmate :)) as they had a call with a customer.
